The wife of former England footballer Tom Huddlestone has been handed a court order after failing to pay a debt of £600 to a PR firm, Independent Creative PR. Joanna Dixon, who is married to the former Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City midfielder, allegedly refused to pay the monthly fee of £250 and an additional month's notice period. Instead, she proposed repaying the debt in £5 monthly installments but is accused of defaulting on the second payment. A County Court Judgment (CCJ) has been granted against her for £601.04.
Tom Huddlestone, who is now an assistant coach at Birmingham City, earned a weekly salary of £30,000 during his playing career. His wife's failure to pay the debt has been publicly criticized by her former PR representative, who questioned her financial situation. The representative stated that it is "cheeky" to intentionally default on a £250 monthly PR contract and a notice period, considering her husband's wealth. The debt recovery plan proposed by Dixon herself was also defaulted on, forcing the PR firm to make a legal claim against her to recover their losses.
The incident comes after Joanna Dixon was the victim of a robbery in 2019, during which masked intruders tied her up and stole valuable items, including an FA Cup medal, a £121,000 engagement ring, and luxury watches. Three men were later convicted for the burglary. The CCJ granted against Dixon is a result of her failure to pay the debt, which has destroyed any friendship or association with her husband, according to the PR firm's spokesperson.
The list of debts and payments includes:
- £250 monthly fee
- £5 monthly installment proposed by Dixon
- £601.04 CCJ granted against Dixon
The case highlights the importance of financial responsibility and the consequences of defaulting on debts. The court order against Joanna Dixon serves as a reminder that individuals, regardless of their wealth or social status, must honor their financial obligations. The PR firm's decision to pursue a CCJ against Dixon demonstrates their commitment to recovering their losses and upholding the terms of their contract.
