The Asia Cup 2025, which was originally allotted to India, has been moved to a neutral venue due to the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. According to reports, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to host the tournament in either Sri Lanka or the UAE, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remaining the designated hosts. This decision was made to avoid any controversy surrounding the India and Pakistan teams not wanting to travel to each other's countries.

The tournament, which will feature 19 games and be played in the T20 format, is expected to take place between the second and fourth week of September. Eight teams, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong, besides India and Pakistan, will participate in the championship. The format of the tournament will be similar to previous editions, with the teams divided into two groups, and the top two teams from each group progressing to the Super Four stage, and the top two teams in the Super Four stage entering the final. The India and Pakistan teams are expected to be in the same group, which could lead to three potential matches between the two teams, including one in the group stage, one in the Super Four stage, and possibly one in the final.

The decision to move the tournament to a neutral venue is not surprising, given the recent history between India and Pakistan. The two teams have not played a bilateral series in each other's countries since 2008, and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was also affected by the tensions, with India playing all their matches in Dubai. The ACC has taken a proactive approach to avoid any controversy and ensure that the tournament is played in a smooth and peaceful manner. The teams that will participate in the Asia Cup 2025 are:

  • Sri Lanka
  • Bangladesh
  • Afghanistan
  • UAE
  • Oman
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Pakistan

The Asia Cup 2025 is expected to be a thrilling tournament, with some of the best teams in the world participating. The tournament will provide a great opportunity for the teams to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2026. The tournament schedule is as follows:

  1. September (second week): Group stage matches
  2. September (third week): Super Four stage matches
  3. September (fourth week): Final match

The teams are currently preparing for the tournament, and the fans are eagerly waiting for the matches to begin. The Asia Cup 2025 is expected to be a huge success, with millions of fans watching the matches around the world. The tournament will be a great opportunity for the teams to showcase their skills and entertain the fans with some exciting cricket.
