India has secured a comfortable win over New Zealand in the final group match of the Champions Trophy, setting up a semi-final against Australia. The Indian team, playing on a slow surface in Dubai, managed to post a competitive total of 249-9 in 50 overs, with Shreyas Iyer top-scoring with 79 runs. New Zealand, in response, were bowled out for 205 in 45.3 overs, with Kane Williamson scoring 81 runs. The spin attack from India, led by Varun Chakravarthy, who took 5-42, proved to be too much for the New Zealand batsmen.

The match was a closely contested one, with both teams struggling to score runs on a tricky surface. India's batters found it difficult to get going, with the team slipping to 30-3 at one point. However, a patient stand of 98 between Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer helped India recover, and Hardik Pandya's run-a-ball 45 in the closing overs ensured that the team posted a competitive total. New Zealand, on the other hand, were exceptional in the field, with Matt Henry taking 5-42 and Glenn Phillips pulling off a sensational catch to remove Virat Kohli for 11.

The New Zealand innings was marked by a lack of significant partnerships, with nobody able to support Kane Williamson, who scored 81 runs. The highest stand of the innings was 44 between Williamson and Daryl Mitchell, but it was not enough to see the team through. India's bowlers were able to utilize the conditions to their advantage, with each of the four spinners offering a different challenge to the New Zealand batsmen. The team's fielding was also impressive, with some sharp catches and run-outs helping to restrict the New Zealand total.

The win sets up an exciting semi-final between India and Australia, which will be played in Dubai on Tuesday. New Zealand, on the other hand, will face South Africa in the second semi-final in Lahore on Wednesday. The results of the group matches are as follows:

  • India 249-9 (50 overs)
  • New Zealand 205 (45.3 overs)
  • India won by 44 runs
The semi-final schedule is as follows:
  1. India vs Australia, Dubai, Tuesday
  2. New Zealand vs South Africa, Lahore, Wednesday

India's win has set up an exciting semi-final stage, with the team looking to continue its good form and make it to the final of the Champions Trophy. The team's spin attack, in particular, will be looking to make a significant impact in the semi-final, and the team's chances of winning the tournament will depend on how well the bowlers are able to perform.
