The UP Warriorz have announced the signing of Australian top-order batter Georgia Voll as a replacement for Sri Lankan legend Chamari Athapaththu in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. Athapaththu has left the tournament to resume national duties with Sri Lanka, ahead of their tour of New Zealand starting on March 4. The Australian batter joins UP Warriorz for INR 30 lakh and will add depth to their squad as they push forward in the tournament.

Georgia Voll, a promising young batter, has made an impressive start to her international career. The 21-year-old scored a century in just her second ODI and has already represented Australia in all three formats, featuring in three T20Is, three ODIs, and one Test. She has played for Brisbane Heat in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) before moving to Sydney Thunder last year, when she scored a couple of nineties. Voll was also named the Women's Domestic Player of the Year at Cricket Australia awards recently, showcasing her exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.

The UP Warriorz have played five games in the WPL 2025 to date, with two wins and three defeats, gathering four points, and are fourth on the table. They lost their opening game of the season by six wickets against the Gujarat Giants and their second game against the Delhi Capitals also resulted in a seven-wicket loss. However, they bounced back with a 33-run victory against Delhi in their third game and won their next game against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a clash that went into the super over. The team's performance has been a mix of resilience and inconsistency, making the addition of Voll a crucial one.
