Tyrique George Shines as Chelsea Dominates Southampton 4-0

Chelsea returned to winning ways on Tuesday night as they ran out 4-0 winners over Southampton at Stamford Bridge. The Blues made light work of the Premier League's basement side as they raced into a three-goal lead by half-time. Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, and Levi Colwill all scored to end the match as a contest, with little to shout about in the second half. Marc Cucurella then put Chelsea four goals up in the 78th minute, with substitute Tyrique George picking up his first-ever Premier League assist.

It was a joyous occasion for George and for Chelsea fans alike, who were chanting about him prior to his goal contribution. The Chelsea fans were delighted to see Tyrique George being brought on, with chants of 'he's one of our own' being sung. He made a bright start too, and is the most exciting prospect from Chelsea's academy around the first-team right now. After George provided the assist for Cucurella to finish from close range, it marked a first Premier League assist for Tyrique George, and it's been an impressive game from him, with Southampton being dreadful.

Although George was only on the pitch for 22 minutes, he made it count with a superb cameo. As well as registering an assist, he made three key passes and also boasted a 100 percent pass rate. George has already made 13 competitive appearances for Chelsea, an impressive feat at just 19 years of age. The youngster has already shown his potential, and it'll be exciting to see how he continues to develop at Stamford Bridge, and there's little doubt that the Blues have a star on their hands. With his performance, George is expected to feature more regularly, and his development will be crucial for Chelsea's success in the future.

The match against Southampton was a must-win game for Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca's men currently on a run of two wins in their last ten league matches. Following defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, the Blues had dropped to seventh in the table, although they are still just a point outside the top four. Maresca has stated the target is to finish in the top four, having previously insisted it wasn’t, and if the Blues are to do that, they have to start with three points against the Saints. The win against Southampton has boosted Chelsea's top-four hopes, and they will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
