Real Madrid's Path to the Final
Real Madrid can take a crucial step towards the Copa del Rey final on Wednesday evening when they visit Real Sociedad in the first leg of their last four tie. Los Blancos have been in impressive form, progressing to the last 16 of the Champions League and beating Girona in La Liga to move level on points with title rivals Barcelona. The Copa del Rey could be the first piece of silverware Carlo Ancelotti's side claims in 2025, and they are strong favorites to overcome 2019/20 winners Real Sociedad in the semis.
- Predicted lineup: Andriy Lunin, Lucas Vazquez, Raul Asencio, Antonio Rudiger, Fran Garcia, Aurelien Tchouameni, Dani Ceballos, Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Junior
- Key players: Kylian Mbappe, who is set to return to action after recovering from dental surgery, and Jude Bellingham, who will feature in his preferred attacking midfield role
Real Sociedad's Chances
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi regretted the chances missed by his team in the defeat against Real Madrid, but sees the tie still open for the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. "A goal difference does not kill anyone," he said, confident that his team can turn the tie around. However, Real Madrid will want to take a buffer back to the Santiago Bernabeu to avoid being the butt of the joke in the second leg on April Fools' Day.
Road to Victory
With Mbappe's return to action, Real Madrid's attacking lineup looks strong, and they will be aiming to take a significant step towards the Copa del Rey final. The team's recent form, combined with their predicted lineup, makes them favorites to win the tie. However, Real Sociedad will not give up easily, and the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu promises to be an exciting encounter.
