The NASCAR Cup Series hits the Lone Star State for the first road-course race of the 2025 season, when the Circuit of the Americas hosts the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix on Sunday. It will be a big change of pace for drivers after opening the season with superspeedway events at Daytona and Atlanta. In addition to going from fast, pack-style racing on the high-banked ovals to adjusting to multiple left and right turns on the Austin, Texas, road course, drivers will also have to adapt to a shorter, reconfigured circuit.
The section from Turn 7 through the Turn 11 hairpin was eliminated, reducing the course from 3.41 miles to 2.4 miles. But the shorter circuit means the number of laps has increased, going from 68 to 95. Qualifying will also be extremely important – unlike Daytona and Atlanta – as the past two race winners at COTA – William Byron in 2024 and Tyler Reddick in 2023 – started on the front row. The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix starts at 3:30 p.m. ET at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and will be broadcast on Fox, with a pre-race show beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix can be live streamed on Max and the Fox Sports app, and viewers can also stream the race on Fubo, which is offering a free trial to new subscribers. The race will feature three segments – Stage 1: 20 laps; Stage 2: 25 laps; Stage 3: 50 laps. Tyler Reddick will start from the pole in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at COTA, after leading a 23XI Racing sweep of the front row in Saturday's qualifying session. The starting lineup for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas is as follows:
- Tyler Reddick
- Bubba Wallace
- Connor Zilisch will start from the 14th position in his NASCAR Cup Series debut
The new layout of the Circuit of the Americas, with a shorter course and increased lap count, is expected to bring a new level of excitement to the race. The tire wear will be a key element in the race, with the new tire compound and variously aged asphalt across the course. The crew chiefs will have to rethink their strategies for formulating a winning plan, taking into account the new course layout and tire wear. With the new layout and increased lap count, the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix is shaping up to be an exciting and unpredictable race.
The NASCAR Cup Series drivers will have to adapt quickly to the new layout and find the right balance between speed and caution. The race will feature a new tire compound, similar to the Goodyear Eagles used in last year's playoff race at Watkins Glen International. The drivers will have to be careful not to overdrive and lose control, as the new layout and tire wear can be unpredictable. The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix will be a true test of skill and strategy for the NASCAR Cup Series drivers, and fans can expect an exciting and action-packed race.
