The Montreal Canadiens have announced that center Kirby Dach will be out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season after undergoing knee surgery. The 24-year-old player is expected to make a full recovery and should be available before the start of next season. Dach had been playing well this season, with 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 57 games, before missing the past two games due to a lower-body injury.

Dach's injury is a significant blow to the Canadiens, who are currently 28-26-5 and sit seventh in the Atlantic division. The team is five points back of the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Dach's absence will be felt, as he has been a key contributor to the team's offense this season. The knee surgery is the second season-ending injury for Dach in as many years, after he sustained a torn ACL and MCL in the same knee in the second game of the 2023-24 campaign.

In his six-year career in the NHL, Dach has recorded 121 points (43 goals, 78 assists) in 269 games with the Chicago Blackhawks and the Canadiens. He was selected by the Blackhawks with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Despite his injury history, Dach is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of next season. The Canadiens will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by Dach's absence, as they try to make a push for the playoffs.

The following are some of Dach's key statistics this season:

  • Games played: 57
  • Goals: 10
  • Assists: 12
  • Points: 22
Dach's injury is a setback for the Canadiens, but the team is hopeful that he will be back to full strength next season. The recovery process is expected to take several months, but Dach is expected to be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season.

The Montreal Canadiens will have to navigate the rest of the season without one of their key players, but they are hopeful that Dach will be back to full strength next season. The team will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by Dach's absence, as they try to make a push for the playoffs. With a strong team effort, the Canadiens can still make a run for the playoffs, even without Dach in the lineup.
