IPL 2025: Ottis Gibson Joins Kolkata Knight Riders as Assistant Coach, Bringing Wealth of Experience to Indian Premier League

Ottis Gibson, the former West Indies fast bowler, has been named Assistant Coach by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025. With a strong coaching CV, Gibson joins a coaching group that includes Chandrakant Pandit, Dwayne Bravo, Bharat Arun, and Carl Crowe. His international coaching experience, including stints as England's bowling coach and head coach of West Indies and South Africa, will undoubtedly benefit the team.

Defending champions KKR will have a new-look backroom staff after last season's mentor Gautam Gambhir left to take charge of the senior India men's team. Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate subsequently joined Gambhir at the India team. The addition of Ottis Gibson to the coaching staff is expected to bring a fresh perspective and wealth of experience to the team. With Gibson on board, KKR will look to leverage his T20 World Cup winning experience to defend their title.

KKR, who will open their title defence at home against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22, will be led by new captain Ajinkya Rahane with Venkatesh Iyer serving as his deputy.
