The Champions League contenders have learned their path to Munich after the last 16, quarter-final and semi-final draws were made. The eight round of 16 ties in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League are now set following the draw on Friday, with the quarter-final and semi-final draws also mapping out every team's route to potential glory in Munich. The matches are scheduled to take place on March 4 and 5, with the return legs on March 11 and 12.

The round of 16 ties are as follows:

  • Club Brugge vs Aston Villa
  • Borussia Dortmund vs Lille
  • PSV vs Arsenal
  • Real Madrid vs Atleti
  • Feyenoord vs Inter
  • Bayern München vs Leverkusen
  • Benfica vs Barcelona
  • Paris vs Liverpool
The quarter-final and semi-final draws have also been made, with the quarter-finals scheduled to take place on April 8/9 and 15/16, and the semi-finals on April 29/30 and May 6/7. The final will take place at the Munich Football Arena on May 31, 2025.

Analysis of the last 16 ties suggests that some teams will face a tough challenge to progress to the next round. For example, Liverpool will face a challenge to oust in-form PSG, while Aston Villa and Arsenal will fancy their chances of progress. Real Madrid lie one point and one position above Atlético in La Liga, and both league meetings this season finished 1-1, so it should be a tight match between the two teams.

The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals has also been made, with the following teams potentially facing each other:

  • PSV/Arsenal/Madrid/Atleti vs Paris/Liverpool/Club Brugge/Aston Villa
  • Benfica/Barcelona/Dortmund/Lille vs Bayern/Leverkusen/Feyenoord/Inter
The Champions League final will take place at the Munich Football Arena on May 31, 2025, and the winner of the semi-final on the silver side of the bracket will be designated as the nominal home team for the final.

In terms of team news, Liverpool's head coach Arne Slot has welcomed the challenge of meeting Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League. The Reds will take on the reigning Ligue 1 champions over two legs next month, first traveling to Parc des Princes before the return fixture at Anfield. Slot believes that the quality of opponent is only going to be of a very high standard at this stage of the competition, and that PSG are a team and a club with real European pedigree.
