Nevada's gaming industry has started the year on a high note, with the state's casinos reporting a significant increase in gaming win for January 2025. According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the state's nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a win revenue of nearly $1.44 billion for the month, representing a 12.5% increase from January 2024. The Las Vegas Strip was a major contributor to this growth, with its gaming win surging 22% to $840.1 million, compared to $686.1 million in January last year. This increase marks a significant turnaround for the Strip, which had experienced six consecutive months of year-over-year declines in gaming win.

The surge in gaming win on the Las Vegas Strip can be attributed to a number of factors, including an increase in baccarat win, which totaled $214.3 million for the month, up 121% from January 2024. The volume of baccarat play also increased, with a 35.8% rise in the amount wagered. Other games, such as slots and table games, also saw significant increases in win, with the Strip's games win rising 45.7% to $515.7 million. The gaming industry as a whole is expected to continue to grow, driven by increasing demand for gaming and entertainment options in Nevada.

Statewide, the gaming win was up 12.5% to $1.44 billion, with the majority of this growth coming from the Las Vegas Strip. However, other areas of the state, such as downtown Las Vegas and the Boulder Strip, saw declines in gaming win. The state's sportsbooks also reported a significant increase in win, with a 12.1% rise to $72.6 million, driven by a 9.1% hold percentage. Mobile wagers accounted for 67% of all wagers, totaling $533.9 million, up 4.9% from January 2024. The growth in gaming win is expected to have a positive impact on the state's economy, with Nevada collecting $108.7 million in percentage fees based on taxable revenue generated in January.

The increase in gaming win is also expected to have a positive impact on the state's tourism industry, with visitors drawn to the state's casinos and entertainment options. The Las Vegas Strip, in particular, is expected to continue to attract visitors, driven by its range of gaming, entertainment, and dining options. The Strip's casinos, such as Caesars and MGM Resorts, are expected to benefit from the growth in gaming win, as well as other publicly traded companies in the gaming industry, such as Boyd Gaming and Wynn Resorts. Some of the key events that took place in January 2025 include Janet Jackson's performances at Resorts World Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Raiders' home game at Allegiant Stadium, and The Killers' return to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

In terms of the outlook for the gaming industry in Nevada, the growth in gaming win is expected to continue, driven by increasing demand for gaming and entertainment options. The state's casinos are expected to continue to invest in new gaming and entertainment options, such as sportsbooks and online gaming, in order to attract visitors and drive growth.
