Vidaamuyarchi Box Office Collection and OTT Release Updates

The Tamil action thriller Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith Kumar, has been experiencing a decline in its box office earnings. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie has minted a net total of ₹80.54 crore in India, with its earnings for all languages declining rapidly. The film began with a bumper opening of ₹26 crore on February 6, but failed to maintain the positive momentum. On Day 24, the Ajith starter earned only ₹1 lakh for its Tamil version, while its Telegu version is already out of silver screens.

The movie's global earnings stand at ₹135.85 crore, with its overseas collections at ₹40.15 crore. The Tamil version itself earned ₹78.54 crore, while the Telegu version earned ₹2 crore. The film is an adaptation of the 1997 American film 'Breakdown' and follows the story of Arjun, played by Ajith Kumar, who embarks on a perilous mission to rescue his wife, Kayal, played by Trisha Krishnan, who has been captured by a group in Azerbaijan. The film is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions and also stars Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Arav, and Ramya Subramanian alongside Ajith Kumar.

Vidaamuyarchi is all set to make its digital debut on the OTT platform Netflix on March 3. The film will be released in all languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Netflix has announced the release on its social media handle, stating "No breaks. No limits. Just Vidaamuyarchi". The film's OTT release is expected to boost its earnings, which have been declining since its theatrical release. Other upcoming Tamil OTT releases in March 2025 include K Manikandan's Kudumbasthan, which will be available on ZEE5, and the web series Suzhal - The Vortex's Season 2, which will be available on Prime Video.
