The Sigma BF is a new mirrorless digital camera that represents the brand’s uncompromising new vision for the digital camera, rooted in the origins of photography yet innovative in design. The BF is intended to accompany users throughout their day, capturing the spontaneous beauty of everyday life. With a 24MP L-mount mirrorless model, the camera introduces a more intuitive way to use a camera by replacing the traditional shooting mode dial with direct access to shutter speed, aperture, ISO, EV compensation, and color mode selection.
Designed to last, the Sigma BF is touted by its maker as the first camera in history to feature a true unibody, crafted from a single block of aluminum ingot over seven hours. Its seamless all-metal body harmonizes with any attached lens, while its shape, button placement, and precision-cut front texture ensure secure handling. The camera’s minimalist design is most apparent on the back, with simplified controls, a redesigned user interface, and 230GB of built-in storage. The Sigma BF will be available in black or silver finishes for $1,999 and is expected to ship sometime in April 2025.
The Sigma BF features a number of advanced technologies, including impeccable image quality thanks to its powerful full-frame sensor, as well as a reliable and speedy hybrid autofocus system that ensures subjects remain in focus. The camera supports high-resolution 6K and L-Log recording, enabling video production that takes advantage of the wide dynamic range of a full-frame sensor. Users can record 6K at up to 29.97 fps, UHD at up to 29.97 fps, and FHD at up to 119.88 fps. The camera also features 13 different color modes, allowing photographers to achieve a specific look in-camera without the need for post-processing.
The Sigma BF has a unique user interface, with a completely new information structure compared to conventional digital cameras. The main shooting-related settings are stored on the live view screen, secondary settings are hidden in an optional menu, and camera management functions are buried in a system menu. The camera’s controls are integrated into just three buttons, one dial, the shutter release, and the power button, making it easy to operate. The Sigma BF is also compatible with the L-Mount lens standard, initially developed by Leica but now used by Panasonic and Sigma as well. Some of the key features of the Sigma BF include:
- 24MP full-frame sensor
- 6K and L-Log recording
- Hybrid autofocus system
- 13 different color modes
- 230GB of built-in storage
- USB-C port for charging and transferring files
The Sigma BF is set to revolutionize digital photography with its unique design, advanced features, and user-friendly interface. With its powerful full-frame sensor, reliable autofocus system, and high-resolution video recording capabilities, the Sigma BF is an ideal choice for photographers and videographers looking for a high-quality camera that can keep up with their creative demands. Whether you’re a professional or an enthusiast, the Sigma BF is definitely worth considering, with its minimalist design, advanced features, and user-friendly interface.
