The Pokémon Company has made several exciting announcements during the recent Pokémon Presents broadcast, including the reveal of two new games: Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions. Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the highly anticipated follow-up to the series’ first open-world game, will arrive in late 2025, while Pokémon Champions is a battle-focused game with a currently unspecified release date. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set in the Lumiose City of the Kalos region from Pokémon X and Y, and will feature Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile as the three starters, as well as a new battle system with areas of effect and Mega Evolutions.
Pokémon Champions, on the other hand, promises to bring everything fans love about Pokémon battles into one place, with new takes on familiar mechanics, allowing for rich and varied strategies. The game will feature cross-platform battles on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, and players will be able to bring in Pokémon from Pokémon HOME. The company also announced that the game will be developed by The Pokémon Works, with longtime Pokémon developer Game Freak planning the title. With the release of these new games, fans can expect a new era of Pokémon gaming, with open-world exploration and battling at its core.
In addition to the new game announcements, the Pokémon Company also shared updates on other Pokémon titles, including Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, and Pokémon GO. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will feature a collection of in-game events, including mass outbreaks of red-, green-, and blue-colored Pokémon, and Tera Raid Battles against powerful Pokémon. The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will receive a new themed booster pack, Triumphant Light, and the original Pokémon Trading Card Game will feature new cards with Mega Evolution.
The Pokémon Company also announced updates on other Pokémon projects, including the stop-motion animated Netflix series Pokémon Concierge, which has been nominated for multiple awards and is currently in production for its second season. Pokémon GO will feature a new season with the arrival of Kubfu and Urshifu, and Pokémon Masters EX will receive two new master sync pairs. Pokémon UNITE will feature three new Pokémon, Suicune, Alolan Raichu, and Alcremie, and Pokémon Sleep will have an upcoming event with Cresselia and Darkrai. Pokémon Café ReMix will feature new menu items and special events, and video games in the Pokémon series will now be localized in Latin American Spanish.
