The 97th Academy Awards have come to a close, with Anora dominating the ceremony by winning a total of five awards, including best actress for Mikey Madison and a record-breaking four prizes for its director Sean Baker. The drama film tells the story of a New York stripper who falls in love with the son of a wealthy Russian, and Madison's performance was widely praised by critics. Baker made history by becoming the first person to personally win four Academy Awards for a single film, for directing, editing, writing, and producing Anora.
Other big winners of the night included The Brutalist, which won several awards, including best actor for Adrien Brody and best original score for Daniel Blumberg. Wicked also took home a number of awards, including best costume design and best production design. Emilia Pérez won the award for best supporting actress, and Conclave won the award for best adapted screenplay. The ceremony was not without its technical issues, as Hulu experienced a technical glitch that left many viewers unable to access the streaming service during the live broadcast. However, the issue was eventually resolved, and viewers were able to catch up on the entertainment industry's biggest night.

The award for best director went to Sean Baker for Anora, and the award for best international feature film went to I’m Still Here.
