Oscars 2025: Predictions, Nominees, and Presenters for the 97th Academy Awards

The 97th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are set to take place on Sunday, March 2, with a star-studded list of nominees and presenters. The ceremony, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will be broadcast live on ABC and streamed on Hulu. This year's awards season has been marked by controversy and surprises, with Emilia Pérez, a Spanish-language musical, leading the nominations with 13 nods, including best picture, best actress, and best supporting actress. However, the film's chances have been damaged by offensive historic tweets from its star, which have resurfaced in recent weeks.

Other top contenders for the best picture prize include The Brutalist, Wicked, Conclave, and Anora, with the race too close to call. The ceremony will also feature a tribute to the victims of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, which have left thousands of homes destroyed. Presenters for the evening include Halle Berry, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert Downey Jr, Cillian Murphy, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and Emma Stone, although Harrison Ford has withdrawn due to a diagnosis of shingles. The Academy has also announced that the original song nominees will not perform during the ceremony, instead, Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will perform a medley of songs from the film.

The best actress category is also highly competitive, with Demi Moore nominated for her role in The Substance, alongside Karla Sofía Gascón for Emilia Pérez, and Mikey Madison for Anora. The best actor category is led by Adrian Brody for The Brutalist, with Timothée Chalamet a close second for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. The awards ceremony will also feature a number of other performances, including Doja Cat, Lisa from Blackpink, Queen Latifah, and Raye. The Academy has also done away with having the original song nominees perform during the ceremony, instead, Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will perform a medley of songs from the film, which will last a reported 10 minutes long.
