The legacy of late rapper Nipsey Hussle continues to inspire and uplift the community, with his brother Blacc Sam, also known as Samiel Asghedom, opening a new restaurant called The Marathon Burger in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles. The restaurant, which hosted its grand opening on March 1, is a testament to Hussle's entrepreneurial spirit and his vision for the Marathon brand. Asghedom explained that the idea for the restaurant was born out of his and Hussle's shared passion for cooking and their desire to create a space that would bring people together.
The Marathon Burger's menu features a range of delicious options, including a signature burger made with wagyu beef, a grilled vegetable salad, homemade vegan patty, and hot wings. The restaurant's focus on using high-quality ingredients and providing an elevated dining experience is evident in every aspect of the menu. Asghedom emphasized the importance of delivering exceptional food to the community, saying that they wanted to create a space that would make Hussle proud. The restaurant's decor also pays tribute to Hussle's legacy, with his picture prominently featured throughout the space.
The Marathon Burger has already generated buzz in the community, with Good Day LA's Bob DeCastro giving the burger a rave review during a taste test. The restaurant's commitment to the community is also evident in its plans to give out free meals to the first 100 people in line on the day of the grand opening. Asghedom said that they may even give out 200 free meals, demonstrating the restaurant's dedication to giving back to the community. The restaurant's hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with phone order pick-ups available from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
The opening of The Marathon Burger is not only a celebration of Hussle's legacy but also a testament to the power of hip-hop artists to create positive change in their communities. Other notable hip-hop artists, such as Donald Glover and the daughters of Jam Master Jay and Biggie Smalls, have also opened restaurants in Los Angeles, demonstrating the impact that music can have on the culinary scene.
