The US Postal Service has announced the release of a new Forever stamp honoring the late actress and comedienne Betty White. The stamp features a digitally created portrait of White against a violet-colored background, with her name printed in white near the bottom. The first-day-of-issue event will be held at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens on March 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. PT.
The stamp is a tribute to White's iconic personality and her contributions to the entertainment industry. With a career spanning over 60 years, White was often referred to as the "First Lady of Television" and was honored with numerous awards, including five Primetime Emmy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Forever stamp will be available in panes of 20 and can be purchased through the Postal Store, by phone, or at Post Office locations nationwide.
The design of the stamp was created by Massachusetts artist Dale Stephanos, who aimed to capture White's mischievous and charismatic personality. The portrait is based on a 2010 photo of White and features an earring in the shape of a paw print, paying tribute to her passion for animal welfare. The stamp will be officially released on March 27 in Los Angeles before being available across the nation.
To commemorate the release of the stamp, the US Postal Service is offering free admission to the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens on the day of the event. Attendees can preregister for the event and admission at usps.com/bettywhitestamp. The event will feature the unveiling of the stamp, as well as other activities and exhibits celebrating White's life and legacy.
The release of the Betty White stamp is a celebration of her enduring legacy and contributions to the entertainment industry. Fans of the beloved actress can purchase the stamp and other philatelic products through the Postal Store or at Post Office locations nationwide.
