Industries Minister T.G. Bharath on Saturday directed the municipal officials to devise plans for a permanent solution to the drinking water problem faced by the residents of Kurnool city.

The Minister conducted a review meeting with the civic body officials at the new municipal council hall on Saturday. He said many colonies in Kurnool city would be inundated during floods in Handri river and instructed the officials to start removing silt from the canals. He sought details from the officials on sanitation, infrastructure development, and greenery in Kurnool.

The minister suggested that there should be no haste in removing of encroachments as it would lead to displacement of people. He told the officials to take proper measures before removing of encroachments. He told them to make alternative arrangements for the small-time traders and poor before removing encroachments. He also instructed the officials to supply clean drinking water to the residents following the complaints of discolored water being supplied from municipal taps in Kurnool.
