Reaching the Final
The Indian cricket team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, has made it to the final of the ICC Champions Trophy after defeating Australia in the semifinal. Despite Rohit's recent low scores, coach Gautam Gambhir has come to his defense, stating that the team evaluates players based on their impact, not just their runs. "You evaluate from the runs; we evaluate from the impact. That's the difference. You evaluate from the stats; we evaluate from the impact," Gambhir said.
Addressing Concerns
Gambhir also addressed concerns about Virat Kohli's weakness against legspin, saying that it's natural for a player to get out to certain types of bowlers after playing 300 games. "When you play 300 (301) games, you will end up getting out to some of the spinners," he said. The coach also explained why KL Rahul is preferred over Rishabh Pant for the wicketkeeper's role, citing Rahul's impressive average of 50 in one-day cricket.
Preparing for the Final
As India prepares to face their opponent in the final, Gambhir expressed confidence in his team's abilities, saying that they had planned the chase well and were always in control. However, he also acknowledged that there is room for improvement, stating that the team wants to keep improving and play the perfect game. The coach praised Mohammed Shami's performance, calling him a world-class performer who prepares himself well. With the final just around the corner, India is ready to take on their opponent and bring home the championship title.
