The upcoming WWE 2K25 game boasts a massive roster of hundreds of wrestlers, ranging from classic stars to modern-day favorites. However, not everyone made the cut, with nearly 30 playable wrestlers from WWE 2K24 not making the jump to WWE 2K25. One notable absence is Brock Lesnar, marking the first time the former WWE Champion hasn't been featured in a main series WWE video game release since he returned in 2011's WWE '12. Lesnar has been featured in every main series WWE game since then and was even the cover athlete of WWE 2K17.

Lesnar's absence from the upcoming WWE 2K25 breaks a 14-year streak for WWE video games. Considering Lesnar's current standing in the company, most fans likely aren't surprised that he is not on the WWE 2K25 roster. Lesnar has been off WWE TV since SummerSlam 2023, where he lost to Cody Rhodes, due to a lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant. The lawsuit alleged that Vince McMahon had offered Lesnar "a sexual encounter" with Grant during his contract negotiations, and since then, Lesnar has been removed from WWE video games and programming. He is still technically under contract with WWE, however.

When the lawsuit first came to light in January 2024, reports indicated that plans for Lesnar to participate in that year's Royal Rumble match were scrapped. Furthermore, Lesnar's role in WWE 2K24 was greatly diminished, with him being removed from the game's cover art and only being playable in WWE 2K24's Showcase Mode. Lesnar was still technically featured in the game, though, making WWE 2K25 the first WWE main series game in 14 years that won't feature him in some way, shape, or form. The roster for WWE 2K25 is quite extensive, with over 300 playable characters, including new additions such as Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa.

WWE 2K25 promises a massive roster of playable WWE superstars from different eras, including a few who are no longer a part of the company. The game also features a new storytelling approach, with the 2K Showcase: The Bloodline's Dynasty, which allows players to experience some of the biggest moments in the careers of one of the most iconic wrestling dynasties. Players can relive history, change history, and create history, with the opportunity to play as superstars from different eras, including Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Yokozuna. The game also includes a bonus pack of content, the Wyatt Sicks Pack, which features five playable Superstars, including Uncle Howdy and Dexter Lumis.

The full WWE 2K25 roster is available, featuring a list of playable superstars in alphabetical order. The game is set to release in March, with three editions available: Standard Edition, Deadman Edition, and The Bloodline Edition. Players who pre-order the game will receive the Wyatt Sicks Pack, as well as a digital copy of WWE 2K24 Standard Edition. The game's official website, social media channels, and campaign hashtags #WWE2K25 and #RuleBeyondTheRing provide more information on the game and its features.
